Hey Everyone!

Welcome to our latest recap of what’s been happening on the site. Let’s get to it shall we?

Over the past several weeks we’ve again had the privilege of sharing some very special guest blogs with you… First, we were honoured to receive a cool entry from Derek and the Dominos founding member, the legendary Bobby Whitlock. We were also pleased to bring you a guest blog from a very dear, long-time friend of Jeff’s and ours, Rob Quail.

Another in our ongoing ‘Essential Jeff Healey‘ series was added to the site. This time we covered Jeff’s fantastic cut, ‘Down In The Alley‘, recorded for the charity album, ‘The Last Temptation of Elvis‘.

We also upped some really great pics to our photo galleries…

In the ‘Jeff Healey Band Days: 1986-2000‘ gallery we added an awesomely iconic live shot of Jeff from 1989 in Illinois and yet another great shot of Jeff and Stevie Ray Vaughan at CBC Studios, Yonge St. Toronto 1987 (this one in colour). In the ‘Early Days: 1966-1985‘ gallery, we added a wonderful performance shot of a young Jeff Healey taken by Pete Dove.

And in the ‘Jeff Healey – A Celebration‘ gallery, we added a tonne of photos taken by Mike Cameron and our dear and talented friend, Derek Lang. These shots encompass the first night of a two show celebration held back in May of 2008 to remember and honour Jeff’s life and musical legacy. Please folks, do yourselves a favour and take some time to sift through these incredible shots. (In the coming weeks we will be uploading pics from the second show, the Jazz Band Ball.)

We were tremendously pleased to announce a fantastic new release… ‘Jeff Healey – As The Years Go Passing By: Live in Germany 1989-1995-2000‘ and it bears repeating that we are absolutely thrilled with the killer job in-akustik is doing on this upcoming collection (we think you will be too!). We’ve had a chance to look at the booklet for the deluxe, 3CD – 2DVD edition and it is 22 pages of fab – rare photos, interviews and insights from bass player Joe Rockman and guitarists Pat Rush and Philip Sayce, Jeff’s wife Cristie Healey and liner notes by yours truly…

What also bears repeating is the great promotional trailer that in-akustik has put together for this release. So here it is once again. Enjoy…

…and to round things out for this update, here’s a cool little interview Cristie and I did back on the 21st with our friend Michael Limnios for the Greek blues blog, blues.gr.

That’s it for now peeps. We’ve got more serious coolness heading your way soon…

Be good!
