This was not a post we ever thought we’d have to have to put together… This weekend we received the awful news that Sass Jordan, multi-award winning, powerhouse Canadian vocalist, had passed away.

The official statement from her family reads, “On Oct 2 2026, surrounded by her loving family, Sass Jordan peacefully crossed over to the other side. She remains in our hearts, an inimitable force of nature. An irreplaceable being of light and joy!“

Our dear friend, JHB bassist and co-founder, Joe Rockman has joined us to share a few words about Sass…

“Sass Jordan…
My heart is stunned by such a huge loss.
Sass was featured on the Jeff Healey Band’s 2nd multi-platinum record “Hell To Pay” after being recommended by our producer Ed Stasium who had worked with her previously.
Her powerful passionate voice had just the right spirit and versatility for our project, and we loved her captivating presence on her own recordings.
While taking a break from the Le Studio north of Montreal she easily hit the stage and sang with a band at the club “Bourbon St. North.” This was 1990 and few female blues rockers existed in such a male dominated genre.
It struck me how the male musicians accepted and gathered around her on stage, as if saying; “One of Us!”
I can’t say it better than that.
She was.” – Joe Rockman

Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and many fans around the world.
Rest easy Sass. Gone far too soon. Never forgotten.

Thank you for that awesome video. RIP Sass you will be missed.
What vibrant musicality trading back and forth between Ms Jordan and Jeff!- definite goosebumps! My thoughts to her family, and to you guys.
Sorry to hear this. I saw her around 1992 or 1993. I heard her on a radio station saying she was going to be at a bar in Detroit, so my brother and I went. She rocked it! We were right in front of the stage. I still listen to the Racine album to this day. Rest in peace Sass, maybe you’re rocking with Jeff.
