Hello Fellow Babies!

There’s been a great deal of coolness going on here of late, so let’s get to it shall we?

First off, we added a couple of great pics of Jeff in Amsterdam with our good friend Jonah in 1998 to our Jeff Healey Band Days: 1986-2000 gallery courtesy of the Facebook page of Dutch personality, Jur, the Living Legend

~Jeff rockin’ out on the kit!~

…and to the Jeff Healey Blues Band Days gallery; a great pic by Morten Rygaard of Jeff with the ‘JHBB’ performing at the Smukkeste Festival in Denmark, 2006.

On the video side of things, thanks to a poster on Facebook (who seems to have disappeared), we found a fantastic rare clip from French television of the Jeff Healey Band miming “River Of No Return” in May of 1989. Unfortunately, embedding has been disabled, so you’ll have to click HERE to see the vid (it’s worth the click!)

In the Performances 1990s video gallery, we’ve added a very cool clip of “Stuck In The Middle With You” – live on French TV (courtesy our good friend László Kaszás)

Over the past few weeks we’ve had some very cool blog entries go up…

The latest installment in our ‘Essential Jeff Healey‘ series was posted. This time we highlighted Jeff’s wonderful acoustic cover of the Neil Young classic, Harvest.

Terry Murphy, bassist from an earlier incarnation of the JHB popped in for a guest blog and shared a couple of great stories with us of Jeff and the late great Albert CollinsHERE!

And March 2nd marked the fifth anniversary of Jeff’s passing. Jeff’s wife, our own Cristie Healey, took the time to pass on a special heartfelt message to all of you… (you can read it here)

Brad Mennie from the Big Groove Radio Show passed this message on to us:

“…we dedicate the entire show to the memory of Jeff Healey who passed away, sadly, five years ago on March 2nd, 2008. Cristie Healey wrote a moving piece on Jeff and the link to that is at www.jeffhealey.com, or follow the link on the playlist page of www.thebiggroove.org. (My monologue on Jeff ends the first set)”

You can listen to the show HERE.

As many of you know, “As The Years Go Passing By:Live In Germany 1989-1995-2000” had its European release back the 22nd of February and the North American release is coming up on April 9th.

The current issue of Classic Rock: Blues magazine (UK) printed a great double page spread on the collection (which features an interview with Cristie…) Dig!

“Overall this is a box set that is essential, not just for Jeff Healey fans, but for fans of blues in general.” – The fine folks at sonicabuse.com gave the set this wonderful REVIEW

…and of course, there’s always time to share in-akustik‘s great trailer again(share it with your friends!)… 😉

In honour of Canadian legend, Stompin’ Tom Connors‘ passing this week, here’s a neat little article from a paper in Timmins Ontario about Jeff wanting a chance to hang where one of the greats got his start… Read it here!

Jeff Healey – Jazz Birthday Celebration

Now, we’d like to beg the indulgence of all you reading this around the world as we aim this next bit squarely at Toronto fans (or those willing to travel of course!)…

Sunday afternoon, March 24th, 2013, Jeff Healey’s Jazz Wizards will be reuniting (joined by family, friends and fans) for an afternoon of music and merriment in tribute to Jeff Healey at the legendary Rex Hotel in Toronto!

The show runs from Noon to 3:00pm and it’s a celebration to mark what would have been Jeff’s 47th birthday (March 25th) and to remember the fifth anniversary of his passing. They’ve called in bands and various musicians/singers to come have some fun, and it’d be great to see you all so please help by spreading the word! (PS. Kids are welcome!)

Here’s the link to the Facebook event page.

And finally for today, UK band The Room are donating the proceeds from their latest single “Screaming Through The Noise” to the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust CHECT. Vocalist Martin Wilson said “The song is about the intense emotional impact that my son’s battle with retinal cancer had on our family.”

The single is available as download from www.theroom.eu/chect for only £1.50 and again, all proceeds from this and also some live performances are being donated to CHECT.
