Hello beautiful people!
Here’s what we’ve been up to lately… Over the past several weeks we’ve had the privilege of sharing some very special guest blogs with you… A wonderful, heartfelt entry from our good friend, guitarist Steve Lukather, a great guest blog from Jeff’s friend and bandmate, guitarist Mike Daley and we also had a sneak peek behind the scenes at the recording of a fabulous Healey non-jazz horn session courtesy of John Jackson. Please check it out (and listen to the great track!) HERE.
The latest in our ‘Essential Jeff Healey‘ series was added to the site. This time we discussed Jeff’s marvelous first jazz album, 2002’s Among Friends.
Several terrific new entries in our Fan Scrapbook series were featured, including this wonderful story by Rich Hwang, ‘Jeff, Lenny and Me‘
Jeff’s award winning posthumous release, Mess Of Blues was added to our Store Page (…and be on the lookout for some very cool new merch making it’s way to the store page in the new year!)
We added three great pics to the ‘Jeff Healey Band Days: 1986-2000‘ photo gallery; a great black and white shot of a joyous Jeff jamming (that’s a lot of ‘j’s’!) with the Powder Blues Band’s legendary Tom Lavin, a cool shot of Jeff and Colin James from the Summer of 1987 and an absolutely wonderful shot of Jeff and Stevie Ray Vaughan at the old Yonge St. CBC Studios in Toronto in 1987. (Thanks to our pal Mark Golabek for passing it on to us!)
Also added was another great Mitch Ostapchuck shot from 2003 of Jeff and Jazz Wizard, Jesse Barksdale sharin’ a laugh at Jeff’s old club, Healey’s to our ‘With The Jazz Wizards‘ gallery.
We took some time to say Happy 70th Birthday to Jimi Hendrix and to send out a call for help to reconnect with some of our old friends…
Lastly, we linked up this GREAT radio interview with Jeff and JHB bassist Joe Rockman from Dallas in 1987 – ‘In the Studio With Redbeard’. Check it out HERE!
Well that’s about it for now. We’ve got some more epic coolness heading your way first thing Monday…
Stay safe folks. Thanks for popping by… Cheers!
~Rog
(Our schedule’s been a bit disrupted in December, but starting January we’ll be back on track with a recap of the latest week’s additions to the site, every Wednesday!)
To all my new acquaintances in this place and to Rog and all those who make this site possible can I just add my Best Wishes to you all I hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy 2013 Jim
Merry Christmas to you and all of the people involved with this website. You all are doing a great job. My son (RJ) and I came home this after noon and we went down to his man cave, cranked the Road house sound track, shot some pool. It made me feel like I was at Healey’s. I was never there so I was wondering is it still around and what is the inside like, any pool tables? Our favorite song on the sound track is When the Night Comes Fallin”. That song just really jams. Thanks for your time.
Rob
Thanks guys! Merry Christmas to you both! Rob, sadly Healey’s is no more. Several months after Jeff’s passing, the building it was in was sold for condos and the club was never relocated… (at least so far…)
Yes! There were indeed pool tables! lol!
~Rog
Merry Xmas to the staff and family of Jeff’s. Thanks for the memories. Keep em comin in 2013! Peace.
Thanks Frank! Have a great holiday! ~Rog
