Hello Beautiful People!

Welcome to the latest update of recent goings on here at the site. We hope everyone is having a terrific summer so far! To our friends in Calgary and here in Toronto, we hope you’ve managed to stay relatively dry and flood-free…

On to business. Things have been pretty busy here, lots of fresh coolness for you to explore. So let’s point you in the right direction…

As always, we’ve added a bunch of terrific pics over the last little bit to our Photo Gallery section.

To the Jeff Healey Band Days: 1986-2000 Gallery we added this great shot of Jeff and Ronnie Hawkins from 1995…

We also added a cool Empire Group Photography pic of Jeff live in 1989 playing the Jackson double neck; Jeff on the Ohne Filter TV show in Germany, 1989, from the ‘As The Years Go Passing By: Live In Germany 1989-1995-2000‘ set (by Willie Kuper); and a great live pic of Jeff by Gary Malerba from 1993…

To the Jeff Healey Blues Band Days gallery, we added a pic of Jeff and JHBB bassist/producer, Alec Fraser clownin’ on the drum kits at the old ‘Healey’s’ in Toronto.

And to the With The Jazz Wizards gallery, we added a terrific shot of Jeff Healey’s Jazz Wizards from Oct. 22nd, 2005 (by Robert Harwood)…

There have been a bunch of really cool blogs since our last update in May…

We had the pleasure of presenting a couple of great new entries in our ‘Guest Blog‘ series. First from producer, musician, songwriter, Marti Frederiksen, whose wonderful work enriched the ‘Get Me Some‘ sessions.

And second, from our good friend Greg Godovitz, frontman for legendary Canadian band Goddo, who dropped in to share some memories of Jeff…

We featured a great ‘See The Light‘ era JHB concert from Boulder Colorado in 1989.

There was a recap of some of the great reviews we’ve received on ‘As The Years Go Passing By: Live In Germany – 1989-1995-2000‘, the first collection of archival materials to be released with the approval and full participation of the Jeff Healey Estate…

There were a couple of new entries in our ongoing ‘Essential Jeff Healey‘ series.

First we did a feature on the song, See The Light, its beginnings and its importance in Jeff’s catalogue…

We covered Jeff’s sophomore Jazz release and the short-lived HealeyOphonic label in the ‘Essential’ blog entry, Adventures In Jazzland.

July also saw the debut a new feature, Jeff Healey – Rarities, starting with a fantastic live version of the rarely performed ‘Feel This‘ tune, ‘If You Can’t Feel Anything Else‘!

…and finally for now, July 16th marked an important and influential anniversary in the history of rock music…

From the Ginger Baker Official Fan Page:

…”On July 16, 1966, three guys put a band together in England. They had all been in some pretty well known group before, but they wanted something bigger and better.

Those 3 guys were Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and some guy named Clapton.

Happy 47th Birthday to Cream!!!

To help commemorate, here’s JH havin’ a go at the Cream classic, ‘White Room‘, Live in Amarillo, Texas in 1989. Enjoy!

And, because we love ya, here’s a bonus audio clip of Jeff jamming with music legend, Cream’s Jack Bruce! ‘Spoonful‘ – live at the Pistoia Blues Festival in Italy, 1993 (Courtesy our good friend László Kaszás).

Until next time peeps… Be good!
